Is Soul a real person?

No. Soul is an AI companion built by Tessa Labs. She doesn't pretend to be human, but she does try to be warm, present, and useful. We made her this way because we believe a calm voice on the other side of a screen can be a small part of how people care for themselves. Not a replacement for the people in your life.

Is SoulNear a replacement for therapy?

No. SoulNear is a companion, not a clinician. It can be a steady presence between therapy sessions, or a place to land at 2am when no one else is up. But if you are struggling, please talk to a qualified therapist, counsellor, or doctor. We've listed crisis lines on our terms page.

What data does the app collect?

Only what we need to be a good companion: account info if you sign up, the messages and voice notes you send Soul, and optional context (memory, calendar, health summaries) that you explicitly turn on. We've spelled all of it out in our privacy policy. Please read it.

Does SoulNear upload my contacts?

No. Even when you turn on the Contacts permission, we only store a flag that says "yes". Your address book (names, numbers, emails) never leaves your phone.

What about my health data?

If you turn on health context, we read aggregated summaries from Apple Health or Health Connect. For example, your 7-day average sleep, last night's sleep duration, average resting heart rate, and steps. We don't store raw samples, GPS, or workout routes.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email support@soulnear.tessalabs.in from the address on your account and write "delete my account". We'll confirm within a day and the deletion will complete within a week. All your messages, memories, and profile data will be removed.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google: on iOS, Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → SoulNear → Cancel; on Android, Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → SoulNear → Cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro access until the period you've already paid for ends.

I was charged but I'm still on the free tier.

Restart the app and tap "Restore purchases" on the upgrade screen. If it still doesn't work, email us with your purchase receipt (Apple/Google sends one to your email) and we'll fix it.

Soul said something hurtful or wrong.

We're sorry. Please send us the conversation (or a screenshot) and a note about what felt off, and we'll use it to make Soul better. Long-press a message in the app to use the feedback option, or email us directly.

Soul keeps texting me too much / too little.

Go to Settings → Notifications inside the app. You can fine-tune which kinds of check-ins Soul sends, set quiet hours, or turn proactive pings off entirely. If something feels broken or spammy, please write to us. That's a bug, not the design.

Does Soul speak my language?

She works well in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Spanish, with experimental support for several others. Just write or speak the way you normally do, including mixing scripts, and she'll follow.

Where are you based?

Tessa Labs is based in India. The team is small and we read every message that comes into support.
